The work we do strengthens the communities we work and play in, with several key long term maintenance contracts throughout the Canterbury region and a number of civil projects currently being completed throughout the South Island.

Job Description

About the role | Ko te kaupapa  

This role leads our gardening teams to deliver high quality grounds maintenance services, requiring a calm, organised, and genuinely hands on style of leadership. You’ll set the tone each day by planning the work, setting clear expectations, and making sure the team has what they need to get the job done properly. Strong, steady leadership is essential, guiding people through challenges, keeping standards high, holding the line on safety, and communicating openly with both your crews and our clients. You’ll oversee scheduling, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, keep accurate records and timesheets, and step in where needed to support, train, and grow your teams so the work is consistent, efficient, and delivered to the standard CORDE is known for.

In addition, you’ll manage equipment, materials, and subcontractors, maintain accurate records and timesheets, and communicate with clients to resolve issues promptly. Supporting team development through training and mentoring is a key part of the role, along with promoting health and safety.

What you'll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu  

  • Full Class 1 Driver Licence (essential)
  • NZQA Certificate in Horticulture Level 4 (desirable)
  • WTR endorsements, Grow Safe Certificate, STMS CAT A & B (desirable)
  • Strong verbal and written communication with diverse stakeholders 
  • Ability to work independently, manage time, and meet deadlines
  • Proven leadership in team management and contract delivery
